When to Use this Tool
โ€‹

In the event you have donations that came through in the waning moments of December 31, the date of the transaction will correspond to the time zone of your connected payment gateway.

Let's say you are on the East Coast, in the Eastern Time Zone, and a donor from California, in the Pacific Time Zone, gives to you. What is 11:59pm on December 31 for the donor in California is actually 2:59am on January 1 for you on the East Coast. This can present a challenge when trying to generate tax summaries for the previous year. In this case, the donation received would apply to the New year, and not the prior one, as the donor actually did.

Use this tool to maintain the donation information captured in the gateway, but allow for the gift to be eligible for tax receipting in its intended year.

How to Use It

You can find the transaction on the Activities page. Click the arrow to the right of the donation, and select Edit.

On the Edit Transaction Window, select the Expand option, and you can set the Override Tax Date value.

This information will be saved as metadata on the gift now, and make it eligible to be included in the previous year's tax summary.

Exclusions

Only one time transactions apply to this. Recurring donations cannot have this field adjusted.
