Assigning a Transaction Type Manually
You can assign Transaction Types when entering transactions via the green + Add New button located in the upper left-hand corner of all Kindful pages. You can choose from the following list:
Note that you can receive Credit (called One Time Transaction or Recurring Transaction), PayPal Transaction, and Square Transaction types automatically in your Kindful account when donations are made online.
Understanding the Transaction Type Icons
Assigning a Transaction Type via an Import
You can set transaction types via the Import Tool. Go to Contacts and then Import Data to begin this process. Learn more about importing data into Kindful.
Assign the transactions in your import file to one of the options listed below. Be sure that the transaction types on your spreadsheet appear exactly as you see in this list so that the tool can map these effectively.
Credit Card
Cash
Check
EFT
Paypal
Square
Stock
Of Note: All of these transaction types will import with or without ‘Transaction’ at the end. Credit Cards could say "Credit Card" or just "Credit". EFT can also say "Electronic Fund Transfer".
Additionally, if you import without a Transaction Type, the Transaction Type will default to Check in Kindful.
Credit vs. One Time Transactions
If a transaction is in Kindful as "Credit", this means the transaction was manually added or imported from an integration with a transaction type of "Credit". One-time transactions are also credit transaction types, but for online donations processed through a Kindful giving page (initiated by the donor).
Using Custom Transaction Types
Kindful does not offer a way to add to the existing list of transaction types. To track other transaction types, you can use a Campaign Custom Field. To do this, go to Fundraising, then Campaigns. Locate the campaign you wish to edit and click the pen and paper icon
located to the left of the campaign name. Scroll to the bottom of the Campaign Edit page and set up your Campaign Custom Fields.
Be sure this field is Enabled and then click Update at the bottom of the page to save the Campaign.
Filtering Transaction Types
For stock transaction types, use the filter Transaction Type: Check (for example) on the Activities page.
For custom transaction types, use the filter With Answer: Type 1 (for example) on the Activities page.
