Before Your Upgrade Is Complete
There are a few things you can do to be ready to log into Bloomerang CRM once your upgrade is complete.
Important Notes
Crowdfunding
Links to existing active crowdfunding pages in Kindful will no longer work and cannot be redirected as part of the upgrade to Bloomerang CRM.
Chapters
If your organization was set up to use Chapters in Kindful, email [email protected] and tell us you need options for Chapters.
If you aren’t sure, go to your user and expand the menu. Organizations that use Chapters have a menu item to Switch Chapter. Most orgs do not use Chapters.
Prepare for First Sign-In
Confirm who on your team has access to sign in to Bloomerang CRM.
Decide who will complete the first checks in Bloomerang CRM after the upgrade is complete.
Get Oriented
Check out Getting Around Bloomerang CRM to get oriented to Bloomerang CRM and learn about what you can do in each part of the app.
Once you’ve upgraded to Bloomerang CRM, you also have access to Kindful Fundraising, which is within Bloomerang CRM.
Kindful Fundraising is slightly different, but similar to, some of the tools in your prior Kindful app. Create and manage donation pages, crowdfinding causes, donation plugins, text to donate, and events in Kindful Fundraising with Bloomerang CRM.

Review Key Terms
A few terms are a little different in Bloomerang CRM than they are in Kindful. Key differences are highlighted in the table. More information is linked from the definition.

Sign In to Bloomerang CRM
Sign in to Bloomerang CRM using the login details provided during your upgrade.
Get more info in Manage Your Bloomerang CRM User Account in the Bloomerang Help Center.
Confirm You Can Find Key Information
Confirm you know where to go to find your Contacts (now Constituents), recurring donations, and fundraising forms. Check that the information you see is what you expect.
From Bloomerang CRM, view:
Your Home Dashboard
Your Constituent Dashboard
Recurring donors from Groups > Recurring
Donation pages (if applicable) from Kindful > Donation Pages
Review Key Differences Between Kindful and Bloomerang CRM
Funds, Campaigns, and Appeals in Bloomerang CRM
In Bloomerang CRM, funds, campaigns, and appeals are fields on transactions that help you track where the gift goes, what effort it supports, and the solicitation channel. These labels are key to help you analyze and report on results.

Kindful has funds and campaigns, but does not have appeals built-in. If you used designations in Kindful, your designations are transferred and become appeals in Bloomerang CRM.
Many organizations use Campaign Custom Fields in Kindful for appeal-like tracking and those are transferred to Bloomerang CRM as part of your upgrade. If you previously set up Campaign Custom Fields in Kindful, those also transfered as part of your upgrade.

Reports in Bloomerang CRM
Reports in Bloomerang CRM work differently than reports in Kindful. In Kindful, reporting is focused around contacts and their activity.
With Bloomerang CRM, you can create reports based upon Constituents, Transactions, Interactions, Notes, or Tasks. You can access other types of information from the report, but this choice determines the basic type of information that your report contains.
Tip: If your question is about dollars, dates, funds, campaigns, or appeals, use a Transaction report type.
Review Additional Terminology Differences
There are some additional terminology differences between Kindful and Bloomerang CRM to note.

Attendees | Constituents | In Kindful events, ticket buyers create or update contacts, but attendees do not sync into Kindful as contacts.
In Bloomerang CRM, you can automatically add attendees as constituents and automatically add an interaction to the constituent’s timeline by requiring first name, last name, and email address at registration. |
Contact duplicate finder / Deduplication | Duplicate Constituents | Kindful includes a duplicate finder and de-duplication concepts.
Bloomerang CRM automatically notifies you about possible duplicate constituents. If you determine constituents are duplicates, you can review and merge them. |
Gift / Donation / Transaction | Transaction | Kindful uses gift and transaction language for monetary entries.
In Bloomerang CRM, transactions appear on the timeline and are where you apply funds, campaigns, and appeals. |

Complete Your Setup
While key information like contacts, donation forms, recurring schedules, donation history, pledges and pledge payments are transferred during a Kindful to Bloomerang CRM, a few things do not.
Set Up Reports
Because reports in Bloomerang CRM work differently than reports in Kindful, you must set up new reports in Bloomerang CRM. Your Kindful reports do not transfer.
Bloomerang CRM includes a number of report templates you can use to get started. Go to Reports > New Report to view available report templates. You can also build custom reports if you click Start from Scratch.

Set Up Appeals
Because Bloomerang CRM includes a dedicated appeal dimension, we recommend you use appeals for channel and specific ask.
In Kindful, Campaign Custom Fields are commonly used for donor notes, memorial/honor info, internal codes, “how did you hear,” and similar attribution/details.
In Bloomerang CRM, set up appeals focused on the solicitation method/channel. If you need to ask donors for additional details that you plan to use in the long-term for segmentation, use custom fields.

Recreate Active Registration Forms (optional)
Kindful registration forms are not transferred during the upgrade to Bloomerang CRM. If you have existing, active registration forms in Kindful, you must create them in Bloomerang CRM using Kindful Fundraising.
