Kindful | Digital Wallet Payments (Apple Pay and Google Pay)

Updated over a week ago

Note: This article applies to Kindful only. It does not apply to the Kindful Fundraising add-on for Bloomerang. For information about digital wallets in the Kindful Fundraising add-on for Bloomerang, view Payment Methods in Kindful Fundraising.

Donors can use payment methods saved in digital wallets to donate to your organization. Digital wallets are a way to securely store payment methods on devices for quick use. In Kindful, these payment methods are known as express payment methods.

Donors can pay with Apple Pay and Google Pay on Kindful-hosted donation pages, campaign pages, crowdfunding pages, and event pages. Apple Pay and Google Pay are available through Bloomerang Payments only.

Only one express payment method appears, which is based on the donor's browser. Credit card + ACH is still available.

Apple Pay

Requirements

Donors must have Apple Pay and Apple Wallet enabled and use a supported browser:

  • Safari

  • Chrome on iOS 16

For detailed information about device requirements, view the Apple Pay documentation.

How It Works

In the Express Payment Method section, donors see the Apple Pay button.

After the donor clicks the Apple Pay button, Apple Pay prompts the donor to confirm the payment. The confirmation method depends on the type of device. Apple Pay might prompt to the donor to use Touch ID, double-click a side button, or enter a passcode.

When the payment completes, a Done icon appears in the Apple Pay dialog box. A Thank You page appears.

Manage Express Payment Data in Kindful

If a donor uses an express payment, it appears as a one-time transaction or recurring transaction in Kindful, just like other credit card payments appear on your Activities page in Kindful.

The payment method is stored in Bloomerang Payments and on the contact profile, just as other payment methods are. These payment methods can be managed just like any other payment methods created by way of an online donation collected in Kindful.

Transactions created via this method can be refunded from the Activities page, just like any other online transaction from within Kindful.
